The three tiers of government has distributed over 500billion naira for
the month of July.
The distribution was done in Abuja after the Federation Account
Allocation Committee meeting. The value, which was a 0.8% less than the previous
month was attributed to drop in the price crude oil from $65 in May to $61 in
June.
The Federal Government received 200billion naira, State Government had over 100million naira, the Local Government
Councils got 79 billion naira and 42billion naira went to oil-producing states.
The NNPC refunded over 6billion naira to the Federal Government and
9billion naira was paid into the Excess Crude Account. The Permanent Secretary,
Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Anastesia Mabi Daniel- Nwaobia, who presided over the
meeting, commented on the late payment of salaries.
She said: “We are hoping that when revenues improve and we are able to hold
our meetings as scheduled within the second week of the month, our salary will
be paid much earlier. It is a phase that we are going through and we hope that civil servants will understand
that.
The Accountant General of the Federation, Alh. Ahmad Idris, stressed that
the Treasury Single Account was for all government agencies, departments, and ministries and
debunked any speculations that it is limited to a few.
