Everton are talking to Samuel Eto’o about a move to Goodison Park - but they face stiff
competition from the Middle East.
The
Toffees are desperate to improve their striking options and now that
Brendan Rodgers has pulled out of a move for the veteran striker, Roberto
Martinez will step in.
Eto’o was demanding £100,000-a-week
to join Liverpool and was angling for a two-year contract.
That would make him the highest-paid
player at Goodison should Martinez complete his deal.
But incredibly, Eto’o has received a
mind-boggling £7m offer to play his football in Qatar next season.
Ideally, he wants to remain in the
Premier League - he is not yet ready to see out his final years in the game in
the Middle East.
The Toffees have been in the market
for a forward all summer and they are anxious to move as Romelu Lukaku picked
up a knock in training this week.
Everton are now in pole position to
land the forward - but only if the financial terms can be met will he make the
move with Qatar otherwise offering him a lucrative escape.
