NLC calls off strike in Benue

Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, has called off the five-day strike embarked upon by workers in Benue state.

The NLC at the end of a meeting between it, the Trade Union Congress, TUC, and the state government, resolved that the TUC, NLC and JPSNC status quo-ante of the minimum wage in the state be maintained in the month of August.

The agreement which was contained in a communiqué signed by the Head of Service, Terna Ahua, the state NLC Chairman, Comrade Simon Anchaver, among others also agreed that a committee comprising government and Labour be constituted to discuss the dispute in question and arrive at amicable conclusion.

Labour also agreed that the current strike by workers be suspended to pave way for the discussion and gave one month from the date of the resolutions for the committee to finish its assignment.

The resolution also stated that no worker should be victimized as a result of participation in the strike.
