The remains of the ruler of Tivland, HRH, Dr Alfred Akawe Torkula who died on November 23, 2015 was
committed to mother earth today.
The burial ceremony attracted the crème de la crème of the homeland and beyond.
He died in the
early hours of Monday at a hospital in
Abuja at 71 and had spent 24 years on the throne, having been
invested with the insignia of royalty in April 1991 to succeed Chief Akperan
Orshi.
The late Tor Tiv was the Chairman of the Benue State Council of Chiefs, a reformist who encouraged and promoted the peaceful co-existence of
different ethnic nationalities in the country.
