The Imo
State Governor, Rochas Okorocha has directed the immediate payment of salary
arrears of civil servants.
Consequently,
a committee made up of the State Accountant General, Chief of Staff to the Governor
and Head of Service have been inaugurated to facilitate the payment.
At
a meeting with workers in Owerri, Governor Okorocha said the payment follow the
receipt of the bailout fund from the federal government.
He
warned that his administration will no longer tolerate laxity and corrupt
practices from the workers and also promised to pay the arrears of pensioners.
“Let
no body hold teachers’ one-month salary; health workers (those on suspension
should not be paid while those that are not on suspension should be paid their
salary outstanding for 7 months).
