It is no doubt that blockchain technology has been tried in the furnace and has proven adpatable as a major trend in the global financial market. There have also been a lot of conversations regarding the emergence of Web3. To help chart the best path forward for Web3, crypto, our company, and our users, I have established the Binance Global Advisory Board (GAB). I, and its 11 other members, are taking on a task that no one can do alone. The underlying technology of blockchain holds tremendous promise, and we're here to unlock it together. 

The Binance Global Advisory Board Has a Clearly Defined Purpose

Through my experiences at Binance and the industry as a whole, I've engaged with leaders, regulators, and businesses across a wide variety of sectors. It’s given me a lot of knowledge. But, one of our company’s core values is humility, and I know that I don’t know everything. This is where the GAB will add a lot of value. 

Over the years, we have built a global presence and have actively engaged with leaders in countries from France to UAE. It has been inspiring to see so many of these countries leading the charge and embracing a future where crypto and blockchain are major forces in their economy. We understand that licenses and regulations will require much conversation and compromise, but the trajectory is clear, more and more countries want to find a positive path forward. 

With the speed and pace that Web3, cryptocurrencies, and blockchain technology are developing, it’s vital Binance draws on its knowledge, diverse experiences, and backgrounds to help us properly and successfully navigate such a dynamic industry.

To many in the community, there will be a question of why we're forming the Global Advisory Board at this moment in time. The answer is simple and self-evident. Both I and Binance as an entity see an inflection point for mass crypto adoption rapidly approaching.

Queen Elizabeth II died on Thursday after a 70-year reign. The U.K.'s longest-reigning monarch, one of the world's most enduring and instantly recognizable personalities, died at her beloved summer home in Scotland, Balmoral Castle, at the age of 96. 

The Queen came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed enormous social change.

Her son King Charles III said the death of his beloved mother was a "moment of great sadness" for him and his family and that her loss would be "deeply felt" around the world.

He said: "We mourn profoundly the passing of a cherished sovereign and a much-loved mother.

"I know her loss will be deeply felt throughout the country, the realms and the Commonwealth, and by countless people around the world."

During the coming period of mourning, he said he and his family would be "comforted and sustained by our knowledge of the respect and deep affection in which the Queen was so widely held".

People in Britain and its commonwealth nations woke up on Friday with a new monarch for the first time in most of their lives. King Charles III returned to London from Scotland to meet the prime minister and address the British people for the first time as their monarch. 

Buckingham Palace announced that Charles had requested a formal "period of Royal Mourning" for his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. 

The following week and a half will see a fastidiously orchestrated process of both mourning and constitutional transition play-out across Great Britain. It will be colored by the grief of a grateful nation mourning a queen with whom many felt a deep connection.

Experts urge FG to stop borrowing as debt levels reach N41.6 trillion.

A power shortage brought on by a record heat wave and related drought has been causing chaos in Sichuan, a province in southwest China home to 80 million people, for weeks.

It has dimmed skyscrapers, shut factories, darkened subways, and plunged homes and offices into rolling blackouts, forcing air conditioning to be unplugged, and killed thousands of poultry and fish at farms hit by electricity cuts.

Novak Djokovic withdraws from the US Open

Novak Djokovic, who has won 21 grand slam titles, revealed on Thursday that he would not be competing in the next US Open.

Despite the fact that current US regulations require that all non-US citizens be fully immunized against the virus in order to acquire a visa and visit the country, Djokovic has stayed unvaccinated against Covid-19 throughout the outbreak.

The 35-year-old Serbian wrote: "Sadly, I will not be able to travel to NY this time for US Open. Thank you #NoleFam for your messages of love and support.”

Stacy Allaster, the tournament director of the US Open, said in a statement: "Novak is a great champion and it is very unfortunate that he will be unable to compete at the 2022 US Open, as he is unable to enter the country due to the federal government's vaccination policy for non-US citizens.

"We look forward to welcoming Novak back at the 2023 US Open."

A "lucky loser" will be included in the draw as a result of Djokovic's withdrawal occurring after the start of the qualifiers, according to the US Open statement.

Djokovic's reluctance to acquire the Covid-19 vaccine resulted in his deportation from Australia in January, which prevented him from competing in the Australian Open.

Djokovic won tennis' most recent major at Wimbledon in July. Due to the same US travel restrictions, he was unable to participate at Indian Wells or the Miami Open in March.

On Thursday at 12:00, the draw will be made for the current US Open. The competition will place between August 29 and September 11.

Car bomb kills daughter of 'spiritual guide' to Putin's Ukraine invasion - Russian media reports

 

The daughter of well-known, ultra-nationalist scholar Alexander Dugin was killed by a vehicle bomb on the outskirts of Moscow, according to Russian authorities, who said Sunday that they had launched a murder probe.

Based on the information previously gathered from the blast, the Russian Investigative Committee stated that it thought someone planned and ordered the automobile explosion that killed Darya Dugina. The investigative committee released a statement on Sunday that stated,  "Taking into account the data already obtained, the investigation believes that the crime was pre-planned and was of an ordered nature,"

According to the press office of the Russian Investigative Committee, as reported by the Russian state news agency TASS, Dugina passed away at the scene after "an explosive device, presumably installed in the Toyota Land Cruiser, went off on a public road and the car caught fire" at around 9.00 p.m. local time on Saturday, close to the village of Bolshiye Vyazemy.

Author and ideologist Dugina's father is credited as having planned or served as the "spiritual guide" of Russia's invasion of Ukraine. He was dubbed "Putin's Brain" by Foreign Affairs magazine and is rumored to be a major influence on Russian President Vladimir Putin.

The United States has imposed sanctions on both Dugin and his daughter. In July, the United Kingdom imposed sanctions on Dugina for spreading false information about Ukraine and the Russian invasion of that country on different online platforms, according to a statement.

Videos of the explosion showed a burning car at the side of the road and shattered auto pieces all over the vicinity. Dugin may be seen in an unconfirmed video taken at the scene.

As the car belonged to Alexander, a friend of Dugina informed TASS that he thought Dugina's father, or possibly both of them, were the real targets of the explosion.

Elon’s refute to join the Twitter Board

As contained in a recent tweet from Parag Agrawal (the CEO of Twitter), Elon Musk has decided not to join the board.

The brief note to the company reads:

“Elon Musk has decided not to join our board. Here’s what I can share about what happened.

The Board and I had many discussions about Elon joining the board, and with Elon directly. We were excited to collaborate and clear about the risks. We also believed that having Elon as a fiduciary of the company where he, like all board members, has to act in the best interests of the company and all our shareholders, was the best path forward. The board offered him a seat.

We announced on Tuesday that Elon would be appointed to the Board contingent on a background check and formal acceptance. Elon’s appointment to the board was to become officially effective 4/9, but Elon shared that same morning that he will no longer be joining the board. I believed this is for the best. We have and will always value input from our shareholders whether they are on our Board or not. Elon is our biggest shareholder and we will remain open to his input.

There will be distractions ahead, but our goals and priorities remain unchanged. The decisions we make and how we executive is in our hands, no one else’s. Let’s tune out the noise, and stay focused on the work and what we are.
